The true origin of tarot is shrouded in mystery. The oldest known accounts refer to the discovery of 22 cards in one of the temples of ancient Egypt. There are also references and associations with the Book of Thoth attributed to Hermes; however, it was only in the 14th century that the spread of tarot in some European countries is known, namely Spain, Italy, and France.

 

Up to the present day, playing cards have undergone various changes according to the spirit of the times. Thus, certain images have been worked on and portrayed based on the capture and understanding of archetypes or fundamental principles in the various authors and illustrators.
